Course Outline

The Supply Chain field is a dynamic mix of people and processes. The 12-week course will take you through the basics of supply chain, where you will learn the interrelationships between Supply Chain Management and Logistics, understand the supply chain process and be able to differentiate between the different supply chain concepts. You will see how the different components, stages and entities of Supply Chain tie together to make the supply chain field exciting and invigorating.

Prof. Chandru Kistan, college Rector and Principal, is the lead academic of all programmes within the higher education suite at Berea College of Technology. The credit-bearing short learning programmes within the higher education band are under Prof’s custodianship, ensuring the programmes are delivered within the regulatory requirements. An astute academic, Prof. Kistan has dedicated his professional career to the education landscape and has been at the helm of many distinguished institutions. Prof Chandru Kistan joined the University of Zululand on the 01 March 2007 as Director of Academic Planning and Quality Assurance. He held a similar position at the newly merged University of KwaZulu-Natal from 2004. Prof Kistan held several senior positions as Dean and Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Education, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Assistant Registrar at the former University of Durban Westville. Before joining the Berea College of Technology, he was the Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Teaching and Learning at the University of Zululand.

Berea College of Technology is fully accredited by the Council on Higher Education [CHE]. All courses are credit-bearing. On completion you will receive a certificate issued from Berea College of Technology.


Ndimphiwe Marawu, is a master’s candidate at the Durban University of Technology (DUT). As a skilled subject matter expert and lecturer he is able to blend academic rigor with real-world insights, inspiring audiences to navigate the intricate landscape of Supply Chain Management challenges. While completing his undergraduate qualification at DUT, he received the Dean’s bursary for his outstanding academic performance. An accomplished author, he wrote an article titled “Good Governance as an Economic Driver for Service Delivery: Lessons for the South African Government” and presented it at the National Development Plan and State Capacity Conference – Reflections on State Capacity and Government Performance through the First Ten Years of the National Development Plan, held at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in November 2022. With humble beginnings, he spent two years as an administrative clerk specialising in logistics in the field of Supply Chain Management at the Department of Justice and Correctional Development. Lablonde Juliette Kalalizi, tech leader and educator is a skilled software developer with experience in web development and software coaching and mentorship in South Africa’s virtual environment. She is a subject matter specialist in Programming and Business Communications.

Ms Kalalizi holds an Honours Degree in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) from the Durban University of Technology (DUT), specialising in Software Development. She also served as Executive Coach and Mentor at Womentech Inspire, a non-profit organisation supporting female students in technology. At DUT, she was recognised as one of the top ten community engagement leaders.

Her interests in Software Development, Web Development, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) have driven her to launch a virtual coaching program during COVID-19, training over 100 women to excel in tech projects.
