The purpose of this qualification is to provide students the opportunity to acquire skills required to perform basic and elementary functions in the Social Media and Communication field. Training for this programme is both theoretical and practical. It allows students to grasp fundamental knowledge in the working of various software packages and the commercial environment and select Social Media and Communication and general IT software packages. The skills, knowledge and understanding demonstrated within this qualification are essential for social and economic transformation and contribute to the upliftment and economic growth within the business sector. The students are trained to assist management with various Communication and Public Relations related administrative duties. This programme will contribute to the full development of the student within the Social Media and Communication business environment by providing recognition and further mobility within the field.

- Grade 12 qualifying for a Higher Certificate
The Higher Certificate in Social Media and Communication is accredited by the Higher Education Quality Committee [HEQC] of the Council on Higher Education [CHE] and is registered on the National Qualifications Framework [NQF] with the South African Qualifications Authority [SAQA].

Upon successful completion of this programme, learners will receive a Higher Certificate in Social Media and Communication.
- Communication Specialist – Pay Estimate: +/- R300 000 to R600 000 a year
- Social Media Consultant – Pay Estimate: +/- R200 000 to R500 000 a year
- E-Commerce Assistant – Pay Estimate: +/- R150 000 to R300 000 a year

A prescribed book list is available from the academic manager at the start of the programme, although the study guide available on Moodle will sufficiently cover the exam requirements.
