Why Choose the Diploma in Hospitality Management Programme?
The Diploma in Hospitality Management has been designed to provide entry-level vocational preparation and applied specialisation in the hospitality field. The purpose is to meet the requirements of the Hospitality Management field through the provision of conceptual and procedural knowledge, core abilities, competencies and skills supported by Work Integrated Learning. Graduates will be competent in using a variety of technical, management and practical skills in the daily operations of a hospitality establishment.

Course Information

You may enter the programme, with:

National Senior Certificate (NSC):

with a diploma endorsement, and English (home language) or English (1st additional language): a minimum rating of 4, and

OR

Senior Certificate:

a minimum symbol of E for English on the higher grade, or D for English on the standard grade, and

OR

National Certificate (Vocational):

a minimum of 40% for Communication or English, and

vocational subjects relevant to hospitality/catering.

The Diploma in Hospitality Management is accredited by the Higher Education Quality Committee [HEQC] of the Council on Higher Education [CHE] and is registered on the National Qualifications Framework [NQF] with the South African Qualifications Authority [SAQA].

On successful completion of the programme, the student will receive a Diploma in Hospitality Management certificate conferred by the College Rector at the college’s official graduation ceremony.

  • Hotel Manager – Pay Estimate: +/- R300 000 to R550 000 a year
  • Chef Assistant – Pay Estimate: +/- R150 000 to R300 000 a year
  • Event Planner – Pay Estimate: +/- R180 000 to R850 000 a year

A prescribed book list is available from the academic manager at the start of the programme, although the study guide available on Moodle will sufficiently cover the exam requirements.
