This Diploma aims to provide both theoretical and professional skills to enable a graduate to conceptualize, design, implement and test software solutions to address industry and societal challenges. We conceptualize software development comprising of 4 key elements: computer programming, project management, IT infrastructure and data management

Course Information

You may enter the programme, with:

  • A Grade 12 Certificate with admission to diploma studies.
  • An NQF level 4 qualification or equivalent
  • Applicants who do not meet the minimum admission requirements as set out above may be eligible for admission on the basis of relevant life and/or work experience in accordance with institution policy on Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).

On successful completion of the programme, the student will receive a Berea College of Technology Diploma in Information and Communications Technology.

The Diploma articulates vertically to Advanced Diploma then Postgraduate Diploma in IT and to Bachelor of Science in Information Technology. The Diploma in Information and Communications Technology programme articulates diagonally with the Diploma in IT (Communication Networks). The programme also articulates horizontally, vertically, and diagonally with a variety of IT programmes offered by institutions both locally and internationally.

Customised study materials which meet the programme outcomes can be accessed from the Learner Management System, Moodle. A prescribed book list is available from the academic manager at the start of the programme, although the study guide available on Moodle will sufficiently cover the exam requirements.
