Course Information
You may enter the Higher Certificate programme with
any one of the following:
- A Higher Certificate endorsement or higher.
- Minimum level 4 in English.
- A Minimum level 4 in Mathematics.
- A minimum level 3 in Physical Science.
- National Certificate (Vocational) NC(V).
- Minimum 40% in English at either Home Language or First Additional Language level.
- Minimum 40% in four vocational subjects.
Senior Certificate
- Minimum E symbol in English, Mathematics and Physical Sciences
Mature Age Exemption
- Must have attempted Grade 12.
- Must be 23 years or older before or during the first year of registration.
- At least three years’ relevant work experience.
- Demonstrated ability and relevant experience related to the proposed programme.
- Adequate communication skills.
- The Higher Certificate in Civil Engineering Certificate is accredited by the Higher Education Quality Committee [HEQC] of the Council on Higher Education [CHE] and is registered on the National Qualifications Framework [NQF] with the South African Qualifications Authority [SAQA].

Upon successful completion of this programme, learners will receive a Certificate: Chemical Laboratory Assistant issued by the Quality Council for Trades & Occupations (QCTO).
